In 1985, with Thrash Metal in high, comes MX, in the ABC Paulista, the band soon became known in the Brazilian underground, thanks to the outstanding performance of several bands that appeared around the same time region. Initial formation brought Alexandre Cunha (drums and vocals), Alexandre “Dumbo” (bass), Alexandre “Morto” (guitar and vocals) and Decius Jr. (guitar) – later, Yuri had taken down, but not for long …
In 1987, after conducting several concerts in the ABC region, and inland capital, São Paulo is hired by the MX record Fucker Records, and invited to participate in the recording of a “LP” Live, recorded at the Teatro Municipal de Santo André entitled “Headthrashers Live” album was the second record on Vinyl Live thrash metal in Brazil – one of the hallmarks of the style in the country.
The shows became constant and the band grew rapidly, being worshiped by fans throughout Brazil – outside the name of the MX also beginning to emerge in the famous “trade tapes.” The training was stabilized with Alexandre Cunha (drums and vocals), Alexandre “Dead” (guitar and vocals), Edu (bass) and Decius Jr. (lead guitar). In 1988 the MX launches Fucker Records by the first studio album, titled “simoniacal”. This album won several awards from the specialized media, including how best band of the year / band act, best cover – and this was due to the traditional election made by the readers of the magazine Rock Brigade, and other prestigious magazines of the time, always with an emphasis on the positive performance of the musicians. This album made the band became one of the most important national scenario of heavy music also hitting first overseas market (Europe, North America and Oceania).
In some countries the MX band was among the 10 most requested programs in specialized radios, plus articles and interviews in national magazines and abroad.
In 1989 with the release of third album, “Mental Slavery”, Alexandre Cunha was recognized by the specialized media and the public as one of the best drummers of heavy music in the country, the recorded material and the live performances, as well as being drummer accumulated the role of vocalist in MX, something he valued much performance as drummer given the difficulty in singing and playing fast songs and techniques. With the wide acceptance of MX, the band was invited to open the tour of great American band TESTAMENT, who came to Brazil for the first time in 1989 – the peak of the group that had released the excellent “The New Order”. Soon after this show, guitarist Decius jr. leaves the band, which discouraged by embezzlement, give me a break.
After years without recorded and almost without appearing in shows in 1995 return with album Alexandre Cunha (drums and vocals), Alexandre “Dead” (bass and vocals), Alexandre “Dumbo” (guitar and backing vocals) and CM (guitar – who had played in bands like Mutilator and Cova), released their album “Again”, and in 1998 the album “the Last File”, both excellent in terms of technique and compositions, receiving great acclaim by critics and fans. After all, the distribution was not as strong as it should, which upset the musicians …
The MX also participated in other important events, such as opening shows for the German band Kreator (this, still speaking of the year 1988, when the German band did not attend, but it took a great show to the public that still had Bilge Rats Grave , Necrosis, among others), and the MX had a responsibility to play for about 12 000 people in three opening acts for American Exodus (1997), who had returned with their classic lineup, bringing the late singer Paul Ballof – and in parallel, Alexandre da Cunha followed for about two years another band called the ABC Transfixion that opened for the German band Sodom, Napalm Death and the American.
In 1999 the MX opened the tour Paul D’ianno (vocalist and classically trained from the first IRON MAIDEN). In the following decade, though still the name of MX was never cool, and the Rio label Marquee Records reissued “simoniacal” and “Mental Slavery” with many bonuses and an insert with a mini biography (in two parts), signed by Ricardo Batalha (managing editor of the magazine Roadie Crew).
After that the band had a big gap in his career, returning only in 2012 with the original lineup, bringing in addition to Alexandre da Cunha (drums and vocals), Alexandre ‘Dead’ (guitar, bass and vocals), Decius Jr. (guitar) and Alexander ‘Dumbo’ (bass and guitar).
Still considered one of the biggest names in Thrash – being cited as an influence by bands from around the world, among them Sweden’s Ghost – MX marked his back in a crowded show alongside Sweden’s Arch Enemy to at Carioca Club, in São Paulo (where they recorded the presentation that will be released on a DVD entitled to documentary and other presentations), and in 2013, began the season playing with the Germans in the Destruction Catanduva, Soulfly in Manaus, among others, as major festivals alongside the likes of Kreator, DRI (Zombie Ritual festival), among others.
In 2014, finally released by Substantial Music, “Re-Lapse” album that brings the classic first album, re-recorded with the current footprint (the whole repertoire was chosen by fans voting on the Internet). Joao Gordo of Ratos de Basement participates in a killer version of “Fighting For The Bastards”, with the lyrics adapted for the Portuguese, entitled to high praise from fans and music critics.
In terms of shows, in the first half, performed at the renowned “showlivre” program (which can be seen in full below!), As well as shows alongside the likes of Voivod, Kataklysm, Bilge Rats, among others. For the second half of the year, already have scheduled, shows with Exodus (Carioca Club) and Whiplash (Inferno Club).
No sooner released “Re-Lapse”, it is already among the top sellers of important specialty shop, Die Hard (Rock Gallery), a sort of “thermometer” of sales in Brazil.
